KTVB: Idaho becoming a work from home destination for house hunters

According to Upwork’s Future of the Workplace Report 2021, almost a third of respondents said they plan to work from home within the next 5 years.

The work from home movement, which gained momentum through the 2010s, has become the norm during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Benefits like flexibility, and access to a national or even international opportunities, make this kind of work appealing to a growing number of people.

Another obvious benefit of remote work is the freedom to relocate anywhere in the country. It’s no wonder the city of Boise, which has gained national reputation as an up-and-coming destination, is at the top of the list for a potential new home base for remote workers.

Local news station KTVB reports:

With more and more people being able to work from home and remotely, more people are looking towards Idaho as their next home, and it's only growing according to one real estate agent.

"People relocating to our areas prior to the pandemic was probably about half of what it is now," Chris Carpenter, a real estate agent from Keller Williams Real Estate, told KTVB.

"It would be safe to say that 40-50% of our clients that are moving here from a different state are coming here with a job and being able to keep that job that is allowing them to move here quicker and sooner than they were expecting," he said.
